Hardee County Sheriff's Office Testing Body-Worn Cameras

The Hardee County Sheriff’s Office, under the administration of Sheriff Vent Crawford, is currently testing body-worn cameras for the first time in the agency’s history.

The compact, state-of-the-art cameras are capable of recording audio and video, taking still photos, and have a battery life of 12 plus hours. They also have automatic infrared lights for night vision.

With transparency being more important than ever before, our deputies will have their cameras recording the entire time they are working a call. Body-worn cameras will record deputies’ on-duty encounters, safeguarding and storing potentially critical evidence, providing after-action video for training, and ultimately fostering community trust.
