Two charged with stealing four vehicles and burglarizing a local business in Zolfo Springs, Fl.

On May 19, 2019, deputies responded to a suspicious vehicle left running in an individual’s yard. The registered owner was notified and he relayed the vehicle must have been stolen from his place of business, JLT Custom Works, Inc., located at 2239 Greenleaf Rd. in Zolfo Springs. The registered owner later discovered the business had been broken into. Reports indicate a safe containing an undisclosed amount of money was taken as well as four sets of vehicle keys.

Approximately one week later, law enforcement received calls of subjects in an SUV littering in the area of Hopkins Rd. Upon arrival, officers located personal documents, including birth certificates and social security cards. Contact was made with the owner of the documents, who said they were in her 2010 Hyundai SUV, further stating a Smith and Wesson M&P .45 was in the glove box along with other miscellaneous items. The SUV was later recovered in Manatee County where it was involved in a hit and run and a black male subject reportedly fled the scene.

Several days later, two more vehicles registered to JLT Custom Works, Inc. were located at two different locations in Zolfo.

On June 7, 2019, Darrell Patton and Samuel Pippin were arrested and booked into the Hardee County Jail. According to reports, both admitted to entering the property without the consent of the business owner. Pippin was an employee at JLT Custom Works, Inc. at the time of the incident.

Both subjects have a combined total of 25 charges pending, which include burglary of an unoccupied structure, larceny of $20,000 or more, less than $100,000 and vehicular grand theft.
