Local veterinarian arrested for allegedly practicing veterinary medicine with a suspended license.
In October of 2018, the State of Florida Board of Veterinary Medicine issued a Final Order informing him his license would be suspended and he’d be placed on probation for a total of three years. On February 4, 2019 his license was officially suspended.
Anonymous complaints were received alleging illegal services were being conducted. On May 24, 2019 Hardee County Sheriff’s Office investigators assisted the Department of Business and Professional Regulation in a business inspection of the Hardee Animal Clinic, located at 1927 US Hwy 17 North in Wauchula, Florida. A search warrant was successfully executed at his place of business.
Upon entering the facility, there were several individuals in the lobby awaiting services for their animals. Investigators located Dr. Lovett in a back room conducting surgery, which he was allowed to complete due to the animal’s safety. A licensed veterinarian was contacted to assume the care and custody of the animals awaiting services.
On June 3, 2019 Dr. William Lovett was arrested, transported, charged and booked into the Hardee County Jail for practicing veterinary medicine without a valid and/or active license.
