Search Warrant Results in Large Drug Bust

On March 6, 2019 at approximately 1 p.m., members of the Hardee County Sheriff’s Office Drug Task Force, S.W.A.T. Team and Criminal Investigations Unit conducted a search warrant at 694 Honeysuckle Street in Wauchula, Fl.

Investigators received information that defendants Marcel Melton and Heather Morrow possessed large amounts of illegal drugs on the property, leading to the Drug Task Force executing a successful search warrant. 

A shed on the property contained 77.5 grams of Methamphetamine, 345 grams of K2, also known as synthetic cannabis, various prescription medications and narcotic equipment.

While searching Melton’s travel trailer, investigators located numerous items of drug paraphernalia, a large amount of prescription medications and a .380 caliber handgun with ammo.

Furthermore, inside of a vehicle next to the trailer, investigators found a pillow case, containing 564 grams of K2 and a recently stolen motorcycle out of Polk County.

Marcel Melton and Heather Morrow were both placed under arrest and booked into the Hardee County Jail. The charges placed against the two consist of Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession of Synthetic Cannabis, Trafficking Methamphetamine, Possession of Weapon or Ammo by a Convicted Felon, Possession of Drugs Without a Prescription and Narcotic Equipment Possession and or Use.

One more arrest followed those of Melton and Morrow, including defendant Angel Simmons, who walked onto the scene and refused all orders from deputies. Ultimately having to be physically restrained and removed from the area, Simmons was then taken to the Hardee County Jail.

The methamphetamine seized by investigators has a street value of $2,500 and the synthetic marijuana has a street value of $800.
