Explorers Post 400

A law enforcement Explorer Post is a cadet program designed for students interested in any aspect of law enforcement, allowing them to learn about careers in law enforcement at the sheriff's office, develop leadership skills, and create a better understanding between the sheriff's office and the youth of our community.

Membership Requirements:
  • Young adults between the ages of 14 and 19
  • Maintain at least a "C" grade point average
  • Have parental approval
  • Be of good health
  • Be of good moral habits with no arrest or conviction
  • Submit two letters of recommendation (School Resource Deputy, School Guidance Counselor, Clergy or Teacher)
  • Submit completed application with $25.00 non-refundable processing fee

Each applicant must pass a selection process, which will include an interview and a background investigation.

To Maintain Membership:
  • Members must attend 80% of all Explorer meetings
  • Members must attend 80% of all Explorer functions
  • Members must have dues current
  • Members must maintain at least a "C" grade point average
  • Members must abide by all rules and regulations governing Explorer Post 400

Explorers with Law Enforcement Guest Speaker
An Explorer has the opportunity to learn almost every aspect of law enforcement, including investigations, fingerprinting, communications, first aid, firearm safety, patrol procedures, crime scene work, records, and many other topics of interest. 

Firearms target practice and pistol matches, assisting at parades and other community services are only a few of the projects in which an Explorer may participate.
