Peace River Center
Crisis Response Team
What is the Crisis Response Team?
The Crisis Response Team is designed to meet the needs of the community in various settings to provide outreach in the form of crisis intervention, assessments, and support to those individuals experiencing personal crisis. The CRT will potentially decrease inappropriate, involuntary admissions of individuals to inpatient psychiatric facilities and redirect these individuals to treatment in the least restrictive setting possible. Additionally, the CRT will facilitate a smoother transition into care and from provider to provider. The CRT is staffed with professional specializing interacting with the community to provide the best in mental health care.
To support a person in crisis, the CRT will asses the level of distress and develop a plan of action, making every effort to avoid costly and unnecessary hospitalizations by using other community resources and alternatives.
Location:
While some services may be delivered a Peace River Center's Crisis Stabilization Unit (CSU), services are performed whenever possible within the community. Examples are in homes, community schools, hospitals, residential facilities, nursing homes, adult living facilities, jails, psychiatric facilities, office settings and other organizations in Polk, and Hardee Counties. However, CRT will also provide 24 hour a day emergency screenings and assessments, by phone and in person, and the CSU.
