Telecommunicators answer and dispatch calls for service for all Law Enforcement Agencies within Hardee County. The Communication Center is the main answering point for all 911 calls coming in for law enforcement, fire and EMS. Administrative calls are also received in the Center and directed to the correct office or handling agency. Telecommunicators are also responsible for providing computer data entry of all calls for service and other data entry and retrieval functions.

Telecommunicators are the first line of contact between citizens and Law Enforcement. They are also the lifeline for Law Enforcement Officers and Detectives, providing response for requests, checking officers' welfare, keeping track of their locations and activity.

The position is multitasking requiring the ability to concentrate and do several things at once, with many other things going on at the same time in the room. The job can be very stressful at times, and can get very busy.

You must be 19 years of age, have a high school diploma or equivalent, never been convicted of a felony or a misdemeanor, be willing to be fingerprinted, pass a drug test, pass a typing test and work shifts.
