WAUCHULA HILLS

COMMUNITY ORIENTED POLICING SERVICES

(C.O.P.S.)

Sylvia DeLaTorre Estes began her career with the Hardee County Sheriff’s Office in February of 1984.  Deputy Sheriff Estes was assigned the Wauchula Hills area July of 2004.   With her she brings experience and knowledge in vast areas of Law Enforcement, which include but are not limited to Corrections, State Probation and Parole Services, and Investigations.  Deputy Estes is a bilingual Officer, which is an asset to residents in this area as well as the business.

The C.O.P.S. program consists of eight-hour days, five days a week to enable the Officer to have a good working relationship with the people in the community as well as the businesses. The C.O.P.S. Officer handles all incoming calls/complaints relating to this area while on patrol. During this Officer’s off time this area is under the watchful eye of a Road Officer/Deputy Sheriff who is assigned the north end of Hardee County.   The Wauchula Hills area encompasses Metheny Road (west) to Polk Road (north) to SR 62 (east) to Hwy 17 South.

The business community in this area has doubled in the past year, and continues to grow on a daily basis.  For additional information and/or comments please contact Lt. Rosie Wendell at (863) 773-0304 ext: 261 or email rwendell@hardeeso.com.
